GOSH I'M THE LAST ONE STILL HERE!!!  Blackie was brought to HSWC with his roommate Salem ( adopted) and admitted to the shelter at the same time.  He was at Petsmart for a while by himself not long after he arrived at the shelter and then went back.  He’s 10 years old, well actually, 11 now, has been at the shelter for over a year, was very sweet and gentle and quiet.  He was adopted last year but returned a couple of weeks later because according to the adopters their resident cat was making Blackie hide “all the time.”  They said he would come out to be around the adults when it was quiet.  He needs a quiet, adult home.  He was fine with other cats at Petsmart and he never seemed to have a problem at the shelter with the other cats but he’s quiet and prefers to keep to himself.  He was very sweet and affectionate when we had him at Petsmart but I felt he was a little more edgy and depressed when I saw him at the recent shelter Open House.  I think shelter living is getting to him.  He needs a good, loving, quiet home. Contributed by Volunteer Bette!     Judy's Note:   Big Long, lanky cat, fine fellow - just needs a quiet adult home probably with no other cats - not a hectic household with dogs, children, etc.   - Adoption fee waived to Adult adopter over 50 years of age via the  Humane Society of Wayne County Adult Companion Program.

ADOPTED!!!!! Ashley -  Female, Brown Tiger DLH, 4 yrs .Ashley has been at the shelter since October of 2009.   She is a gorgeous cat, but apparently was not socialized at a very young age.   She strongly dislikes the other cats.  Ashley needs to live in a home without other cats or pets and with an adoptive parent that has had cats in the past and understands them.   She will need to be given her own space and allowed to eat, rest, explore - and be allowed to come to her family when she feel comfortable.  Love and Patience required!   Contributed by Volunteer Judy!  Adoption fee waived to Adult adopter over 50 years of age via the  Humane Society of Wayne County Adult Companion Program.   ALSO, only $25.00 adoption fee if the adopter is younger than 50 years of age!

ADOPTED!!!!!Whitney has a lot of “cattitude” and would probably like to be an only cat.  She’s in the big cat room at the shelter but she tends to keep to herself.  She needs a calm and patient home where she can learn to trust people and feel safe.  I think most of her seemingly temperamental personality quirks are defense mechanisms. She was a stray and since she’s only a year old, I think she probably had to learn to protect herself quickly.  Contributed by Volunteer Bette!

ADOPTED!!!!!Conrad  was at Petsmart a month or so ago.  He’s a big, lovable hunk who got along with everyone.  His size belies the fact that he’s only a year or two old.  If I remember correctly, he likes to play and be around people.

ADOPTED!!!!!Mindy  - a beautiful girl - we have not figured out why she is being overlooked.  She has a very triangular face and is as sweet as can be.   Last years she was at Webster Petsmart and then transferred  back to the shelter.   Work is she has bloomed to a very loveable girl!  Judy's Comments

ADOPTED!!!!!Gizelle  - Gizelle is currently free to roam in the big cat room at the main shelter.  Gizelle is friendly on her own terms and is a beautiful girl.   she would be best in an adult home or with no young children. (comments from Dawn at shelter) Adoption fee waived to Adult adopter over 50 years of age via the  Humane Society of Wayne County Adult Companion Program.

ADOPTED!!!!!Luna  -  Luna is a girl who came in with a broken leg which has healed, but leaves her unable to bend it.  She gets around ok and is fine with other cats.   She hasn't come out to Webster PetSmart because she needs to have more space - the small cages are too constraining with her leg!  (comments from Dawn at shelter)
