This list
represents only one day's sample of the cats up for adoption at the various
locations. Many new cats arrive daily. Sadly, the absence of
animal from a previous week's list does not necessarily indicate a happy
ending

Added on 6/2/04 3. Now at Lollypop West! Please meet Fritz!! Fritz 62260 Male Buff 3 years old. Fritz is with us because his owner recently died. He’s lonely and doesn’t understand why he’s been put out of his home. He’s very big, with a large, regal head. Seems almost lion like. He’s quiet and affectionate. He’s great with adults and children, but has little or no experience with other animals. 4. Bear 61476 Male Grey & white/longhair 1 year old. Playful, young and gorgeous! He loves your attention, and gives you hugs to show you how much he cares. He’s great with men, women and children. Hisses at cats and dogs, which could be just youth, or it could mean he really wants to be the only pet and the center of the household.

He’s quiet and observant, with orange eyes that exactly match his orange, silky fur. Loves to be petted and fussed over, which is what almost everyone who walks by does. 11. ADOPTED! Iola 62648 Female Siamese/sealpoint 1.5 years old. It’s unusual that we get what looks like a purebred Siamese, but here she is! Her owner moved to Texas and couldn’t take her along. She’s declawed in the front. She’s great with adults and children, but has no experience with other cats or with dogs. She has a lovely Siamese voice, and gorgeous, blue slanted eyes. She’s elegant and lithe, a real beauty.
13. ADOPTED! Chaz 61826 Male Black and white 3 years old. Chaz was brought in due to the allergies of his owner. He’s charming and likes everyone—adults, kids, strangers, and cats. He’s a very youthful 9 years old, and has the quiet and gentleness that comes with maturity. He’s good with adults, kids and even strangers, cats and dogs too. He has white feet and a white nose, and is mostly black. He looks at you with eyes that ask for love. 18. ADOPTED! Butterball 62540 Male Brown tiger 1 year. Every week one cat stands out as my “favorite”, and I he is right up there! He loves everyone—adults as well as kids, cats and dogs. He is gorgeous, with thick fur, tufted ears, and big paws You can tell he’s going to be a very large boy. He’s a warm-hearted fellow, who is affectionate and peaceful—unusual for a young cat. His ears are tufted, and when he looks intensely in your eye, you will be charmed. 19. Clara 63008 Female Brown tiger 5 years old. Our night cleaner found this lovely, sweet-tempered cat left outside our door in a box. She’s big and square shaped, with deep green eyes. She has a wonderful squeak of a meow that she uses to get you to pet her. Added on 6/24/04 20. Chewy 61771 Female Brown tiger 1.5 years old. Chewy came to us when the owner’s wife became allergic. She’s good with people and cats. She has no experience with dogs. She has long, long legs, and she’s got a lean and athletic build. She loves to play! 21. ADOPTED! Lucas 63077 Male Grey tabby 5 years old. This guy has extra toes on his front feet, so they look like mittens! He has large, dramatic markings with a white chin. Though he’s very laid back, he also makes it very clear he wants good loving. He can be a little shy at first (who wouldn’t in a new environment?) but as soon as he sees you mean him no harm, he warms up to you as if he’s known you for years. 22. Pollyanna 62794 Female/longhair Brown tabby 3 years old. She is a beautiful cat with unusual coloring. She has a white chest and face with golden cheeks. She’s very reserved, but sweet natured. Her hair is not really long, more in between long and short. 23. Zsa Zsa 63145 Female Brown tabby 4 years old. Her owner moved to a small apartment and couldn’t bring her with him. She was always waiting at the door when the owner came home, and was described as “delightful, obedient, and gentle”. She comes when called, and loves to be petted. She also loves classical music! She’s soft and sweet. 24. Dallas 63340 Female Seal point/orange/longhair 2 years old. Dallas has been declawed in the front. She’s good with adults and strangers, but would do better in an adult home or with older kids, as she hides from young children. She’s affectionate and sociable. She lived with cats and dogs, so would do fine with other animals. 25. ADOPTED! Mia 62854 Female Brown tiger 2 years old. Mia’s owner just moved, and had to leave her behind. She’s a wonderful companion and has longish short hair that’s really soft. She has a big fluffy tail, and she’s petite and dear.
27. Clarabelle 62373 Female Tortie 10 months. She was a stray who had been living in a garage in Rush for the last month. Rescued and brought to us, she’s in need of someone who will give her the companionship and care that she will return in kind. She gently taps you with her paws (no claws out) for attention. She has a really loud purr and is very playful. Long legs, lean build and beautiful markings. 28. ADOPTED! Oreo 62966 Female Black with white patch on her chest 7 years old. Oreo is a perfect choice for a “one animal family. She dislikes other animals and will thrive as the sole pet in the house. She loves people and will sit forever and let you pet her. She has vivid golden eyes, and she’s a talker.
Janet’s Pick of the Week—Seneca, a young, longtimer
in need of some good loving.
Lollypop Staff’s Pick of the Week—Brutus, the biggest boy on the block. 33. ADOPTED! Brutus 13381 Male Orange/white 3 years old. This is one of the biggest cats we’ve ever seen! He came to us when his previous owner became allergic. His front paws are declawed. Despite his size, he’s a real dear. He loves to cuddle, and he’s sweet tempered and adorable. He has a massive white chest and white feet. Please give this honey a good home.
Just a few words about Lollypop’s fabulous black cats. Lots of people overlook these wonderful creatures, either because they still associate them with the old superstition of bad luck, or maybe because they want a more colorful cat. Being the happy owner of 2 black cats, I can say that once you adopt a black cat, you will always be attached to the breed. I don’t know what it is, but every black cat I’ve ever owned has had the most distinctive personality, loving disposition, and playful attitude. They are loyal and steadfast. They just seem to have an ancient mystery and elegance about them. You feel blessed when they pay attention to you. In Britain and Japan, it is considered good
luck to have a black cat cross your path. Other good luck associated with
black cats: having a black cat greet you at your door, having a black cat
enter your home, meeting 3 black cats in succession, touching a black cat,
and possessing a black cat. All of these seem perfectly logical to me!
So, give our black cats and kittens another chance, and spend some time
in the meet and greet room with them. You’ll see just how special they
are, and maybe we can change things so that they are the first to be adopted!!

ADOPTED:
12. Macy 060597 Female Black with a white patch on her chest 1.5 years old. Macy was abandoned by a landlord’s former tenant, and he was kind enough to bring her here to be adopted. She is the new mother of 3 kittens. She’s good with adults and strangers as well as other cats, but hasn’t had any experience with children or dogs. She’s tiny and very loving.
Janet’s Picks of the Week – Please give Harry your special consideration! 16. Harry 025381 Male Black 2.5 years old. From the first moment we met, I fell head over heels for Harry. Could have something to do with the fact that I rather fancy all-black male cats. But he is a lover! Big, with soft, silky fur, he’s gentle and friendly, and in a nice way asks for your attention. He’s never lived with dogs, and chased other cats, but he may have been just playing. His front paws are declawed.
ADOPTED 20. Fluffy 62264 Female Black and white/longhair 1 year old. Her previous family just had a new baby, and perhaps decided they no longer had the attention to pay to Fluffy. She’s affectionate with adults, kids and strangers, but attacks cats and dogs. She has the most wonderful face! A black mask and nose with floppy ears make her look like a stuffed toy. 21. Sarah 062295 Female Grey and tortie/longhair 3 years old. Lovely Sarah was found 10 weeks ago as a stray. She’s very thin, and needs someone to lavish love and attention on her to bring her back to a healthy, happy cat. She’s very sweet-tempered with light green eyes and a beautiful face. 22. Macy 60597 Female Black with a white patch on her chest 1.5 years old. Macy was abandoned by a landlord’s former tenant, and he was kind enough to bring her here to be adopted. She is the new mother of 3 kittens. She’s good with adults and strangers as well as other cats, but hasn’t had any experience with children or dogs. She’s tiny and very loving. 23. Pie 62266 Male Buff 4 years old. Found by a kind-hearted stranger, he was previously a stray. His nose is scratched from past fights to protect himself. He has a wonderful, soft meow that he calls you with until you relent and come over to give him hugs and kisses. Every staff member who walks by has to stop and take him out for a hug. I think he just makes everyone else feel better! He gently taps you with his paws to remind you to pay attention to him.
