This list represents only one day's sample of the cats up for adoption at the various locations.   Many new cats arrive daily. Sadly, the absence of animal from a previous week's list does not necessarily indicate a happy ending

He’s great with men, women and children. Hisses at cats and dogs, which could be just youth, or it could mean he really wants to be the only pet and the center of the household.

5. Velvet   061863    Female    Grey    8 months old.   A one of a kind color, her grey coat is flecked and speckled with lighter grey. She’s good with dogs, and adults and children, but attacks other cats. Her name is very fitting!

She has a lovely Siamese voice, and gorgeous, blue slanted eyes. She’s elegant and lithe, a real beauty.

Rusty is great with people, but has no experience with cats or dogs. He’s a gorgeous Persian, with the trademark long hair and flat face that looks so regal. He’s reserved, as many of his breed are. He loves to be brushed, and is declawed in the front.

16. Theo    062336   Female    Black/white   2 years old.   Yes, an unusual name for a female, but nevertheless, she is very much a girl. She’s sweet and good-natured, and has long legs. She’s friendly with men, women and children and cats too. She hides from dogs though.

17. Tully    62849    Male    Black/white    9 years old.   Tully’s previous owner had to move and couldn’t take him along. He has white feet and a white nose, and is mostly black. He looks at you with eyes that ask for love.

18. ADOPTED!     Butterball    62540    Male    Brown tiger   1 year.   Every week one cat stands out as my “favorite”, and I he is right up there!  He loves everyone—adults as well as kids, cats and dogs. He is gorgeous, with thick fur, tufted ears, and big paws You can tell he’s going to be a very large boy. He’s a warm-hearted fellow, who is affectionate and peaceful—unusual for a young cat. His ears are tufted, and when he looks intensely in your eye, you will be charmed.

21. ADOPTED!       Lucas    63077    Male    Grey tabby    5 years old.   This guy has extra toes on his front feet, so they look like mittens! He has large, dramatic markings with a white chin. Though he’s very laid back, he also makes it very clear he wants good loving. He can be a little shy at first (who wouldn’t in a new environment?) but as soon as he sees you mean him no harm, he warms up to you as if he’s known you for years.

22. Pollyanna    62794    Female/longhair    Brown tabby    3 years old. She is a beautiful cat with unusual coloring. She has a white chest and face with golden cheeks. She’s very reserved, but sweet natured. Her hair is not really long, more in between long and short.

23. Zsa Zsa    63145   Female    Brown tabby    4 years old.  Her owner moved to a small apartment and couldn’t bring her with him. She was always waiting at the door when the owner came home, and was described as “delightful, obedient, and gentle”. She comes when called, and loves to be petted. She also loves classical music! She’s soft and sweet.

24. Dallas    63340   Female    Seal point/orange/longhair    2 years old.  Dallas has been declawed in the front. She’s good with adults and strangers, but would do better in an adult home or with older kids, as she hides from young children. She’s affectionate and sociable. She lived with cats and dogs, so would do fine with other animals.

25. ADOPTED!       Mia    62854    Female    Brown tiger    2 years old.   Mia’s owner just moved, and had to leave her behind. She’s a wonderful companion and has longish short hair that’s really soft. She has a big fluffy tail, and she’s petite and dear.

She has a really loud purr and is very playful. Long legs, lean build and beautiful markings.

28. ADOPTED!      Oreo    62966   Female    Black with white patch on her chest    7 years old.   Oreo is a perfect choice for a “one animal family. 29. Calie    062562    Female    Calico    2 years old.    Previous owner had to move, so here she is with us, hoping for a home to call her own. She’s a wonderful youngster—enthusiastic, slim and very forward in asking for your attention. She fears dogs, but she’s great with adults, children and other cats.

30. Tinker    062445    Female    Tortie/black    1 year old.    Tinker lived with a 1, 5 and 7 year old, so she’s good with kids of all ages. She likes other cats, but not dogs.   31. Seneca    60022    Female    Grey tiger/white    1 year old.  This youthful, exuberant cat is one of the most charming I’ve met. Black Cats are Lucky & Special
A Note from Janet Fried

Just a few words about Lollypop’s fabulous black cats. Lots of people overlook these wonderful creatures, either because they still associate them with the old superstition of bad luck, or maybe because they want a more colorful cat.

Being the happy owner of 2 black cats, I can say that once you adopt a black cat, you will always be attached to the breed. I don’t know what it is, but every black cat I’ve ever owned has had the most distinctive personality, loving disposition, and playful attitude. They are loyal and steadfast. They just seem to have an ancient mystery and elegance about them. You feel blessed when they pay attention to you.

In Britain and Japan, it is considered good luck to have a black cat cross your path. Other good luck associated with black cats: having a black cat greet you at your door, having a black cat enter your home, meeting 3 black cats in succession, touching a black cat, and possessing a black cat. All of these seem perfectly logical to me! So, give our black cats and kittens another chance, and spend some time in the meet and greet room with them. You’ll see just how special they are, and maybe we can change things so that they are the first to be adopted!!

KRISTIN'S PICK OF THE WEEK:  1. Diamond  (A059706)- Diamond is a 6-7 year old, short hair, white and grey girl. Her owners could not keep her anymore. She is a bit shy at first but when she warms up she likes to give kisses. She would do best in a quiet home where she can sit on your lap. She has lived with cats and dogs before. She is good with older kids. She has just the cutest little face, come and see for yourself!!

ADOPTED:2. (A061325)- Cuddles is a 7 year old, short hair calico. They were moving and could not take Cuddles with them. She is a cute girl. She only has a half of tail so she wags it like a dog!!!! She is trained to use a scratching post and does not jump on the counters. She has lived with kids and is a bit shy around other animals. Come and see this pretty girl in person!!!

3. Meryl  047379 Female Blue & calico 5 years old. Meryl is one of 3 cats waiting to be adopted after their animal cruelty case was finally settled. She’s been with us since June of 2003, and is in need of a family that will give her the love and attention she’s never had. She’s shy, but when she gets into a home and can be treated the way all our creatures deserve to be, she will bloom.

4. Doris   A061168     Female    White/grey    3.5 years old.  This abandoned young mother just had kittens 2 months ago. Now spayed, she is ready for a new home with people that will take care of and love her. She is sweet tempered and devoted.

5. Gwyneth 47382 Female Blue & calico 5.5 years old. Gwyneth is another of the 3 cats waiting to be adopted after their animal cruelty case was finally settled. She too has been with us since June of 2003, and is in dire need of an adopted home that will treasure her and help her thrive, as she deserves to after so much suffering.

ADOPTED!!!! yeah   6. Rocky (A059457)-  Rocky is a big, beautiful, all black neutered male.  He is about 2 years old and is a short hair cat.  He was brought in because they had too many cats and he was not getting along with all the other cats.  He would do best in a house with no other animals so that he can be the king.  He is the ultimate lap cat and will sit on your lap for hours if you let him!!!  He also likes to give kisses, he is a sweetheart so please come and check him out!!!!!

7. Missy (A002976)-  Missy is a 10 year old, American shorthair.  She is a very pretty cat; she is a cross between a tiger and a calico.  Her owners were going into a nursing home and were not able to keep her.  She is used to being the only pet so we are not sure how she gets along with other pets.  She was very affectionate with the owners but gets a little nervous when strangers come around.  She would probably do best in a quiet home where she can cuddle all day!!!

8. Pumpkin (A059967)-  Pumpkin is a 5 year old, short hair, calico.  She was brought in because the baby kept scaring her and backing her into a corner.  She is also declawed in the front.  We are recommending her with older kids and not other pets in the house.  She really gets unhappy when she sees another animal!!!  She is a sweet girl with people and will be a great companion for someone out there.

9. Tiger (A062194)-  Tiger is a long hair, 4 ½ year old, tiger and white male.  His owners could not longer care for him.  He is a very handsome, big boy!!!  He is declawed in the front.  He has not been around kids and has lived with 2 dogs.  He is affectionate but independent when he wants to be.  Come check him out!!

10. Baby (A057788)-  Baby is a 1 year old, short hair, black and white cat.  He was brought in because he was too active for the older cat at home.  He definitely is an active, playful cat.  He does like other cats but should not be in a home with younger children.  He is a funny cat, and will play forever.

11. Angel   061490     Female /longhair   Tortiseshell    2 years old.  Angel is friendly with adults, older children, strangers and cats. She hides from dogs, so probably would do best in a home with no dogs. She’s very forward about wanting attention and petting, so she needs a home where people will dote on her. She has gorgeous 2-tone green eyes.

12.  Macy   060597     Female    Black with a white patch on her chest    1.5 years old.  Macy was abandoned by a landlord’s former tenant, and he was kind enough to bring her here to be adopted. She is the new mother of 3 kittens. She’s good with adults and strangers as well as other cats, but hasn’t had any experience with children or dogs. She’s tiny and very loving.

13.  Demi   A047387     Female    Blue tabby/grey    3 years old.  Demi is the 2nd of the abused cats hoping desperately for a home now that her case has been settled. She’s shy also, but in need of care and understanding, something she rarely experienced up until now. We are giving all 3 all the love we can, but it’s just not the same as having a home and a family to call your own.

ADOPTED 14. Cuddles (A061325)-  Cuddles is a 7 year old, short hair calico.

15.  Meryl   A047379     Female    Blue & calico    5 years old.

Janet’s Picks of the Week – Please give Harry  your special consideration!   16. Harry   025381     Male    Black   2.5 years old.   From the first moment we met, I fell head over heels for Harry. Could have something to do with the fact that I rather fancy all-black male cats. But he is a lover! Big, with soft, silky fur, he’s gentle and friendly, and in a nice way asks for your attention. He’s never lived with dogs, and chased other cats, but he may have been just playing. His front paws are declawed.

ADOPTED:  17.   Henry   61281     Male/longhair    Black tiger    2 years old.  Another stray, why do people do this to these wonderful creatures?? He’s gentle, and even though he was unwanted, it would take no time at all to turn him from skinny to sleek with love, patience and understanding. He has very striking coloring, and a delightful, tufted face.

18. Gowan (A057808)-  Gowan is a 4 ½ year old, short hair, white cat with gray spots on his head.  He was brought in because the people were moving.  He was adopted from here previously and after having him for 6 months they moved to a place where pets where not allowed.  How sad!!!!!  He is a big boy, sweet and friendly.  He has never been around dogs and is not fond of other cats.  Come see how cute he is!!!!

ADOPTED19. Tigger (A062233)-  Tigger is a long hair, 3 year old, gray and peach female.  She is here because her owners moved.  She likes to be picked up and be brushed.  She would do best with older children and has never been around other animals.  She is a bit shy and would prefer a quiet household to rule over.

20. Fluffy   62264     Female    Black and white/longhair    1 year old.  Her previous family just had a new baby, and perhaps decided they no longer had the attention to pay to Fluffy. She’s affectionate with adults, kids and strangers, but attacks cats and dogs. She has the most wonderful face! A black mask and nose with floppy ears make her look like a stuffed toy.

21.   Sarah   062295     Female    Grey and tortie/longhair    3 years old.  Lovely Sarah was found 10 weeks ago as a stray. She’s very thin, and needs someone to lavish love and attention on her to bring her back to a healthy, happy cat. She’s very sweet-tempered with light green eyes and a beautiful face.

22.  Macy   60597     Female    Black with a white patch on her chest    1.5 years old.  Macy was abandoned by a landlord’s former tenant, and he was kind enough to bring her here to be adopted. She is the new mother of 3 kittens. She’s good with adults and strangers as well as other cats, but hasn’t had any experience with children or dogs. She’s tiny and very loving.

23.  Pie    62266    Male    Buff    4 years old.  Found by a kind-hearted stranger, he was previously a stray. His nose is scratched from past fights to protect himself. He has a wonderful, soft meow that he calls you with until you relent and come over to give him hugs and kisses. Every staff member who walks by has to stop and take him out for a hug. I think he just makes everyone else feel better! He gently taps you with his paws to remind you to pay attention to him.

NOTE: She is now at Lollpop West!  Emily ! She is a 3 1/2 year old, white and brown tiger female.  She is a short hair and is declawed in the front.  Her owners moved and could not take her with them.  She is very playful and friendly.  She has not been around other animals and ahs not lived with kids.  She likes to be brushed and loves toys that are on a string to run and chase!!!!  She is a cutie and will be a great addition to any family!!!
