Spay / Neuter Assistance and Information

Although Bugsy's Animal Network lists many animals for adoption, the only way we will truly save animals from abuse and unnecessary euthanisia is to stop pet overpopulation through Spay/Neuter

Bottom Line: Even if you find good homes for your puppies and kittens, allowing your pet to give birth takes the lives of not just one, but many other animals.  We need to remember that the birth rate of unaltered pets rises exponentially.  Judy Coene - Bugsy's Animal Network

HOW TO SUPPORT SPAY/NEUTER ON THE LOCAL LEVEL
1. Be an Advocate for the Spay and Neuter of All Pets 2. Sponsor the Spay /Neuter of One of the Animals in our local shelters, increasing their adoptability.

3. If you come in contact with a stray animal either:

  • Take responsibility for its spay/neuter, health care, food, shelter; or
  • Find it a good home that will take care of the items above; or
  • Take it to your Local Animal Shelter
  • Note: Although it is very humane to feed the animals, for each kitten or puppy it produces another one is put to sleep. Also feral/stray animals often lead very harsh, difficult lives.
4.  If you are a landlord, offer rentals to owners of pets. There a variety of ways that you can protect your property while providing housing for homeless animals.  Visit Lollypop's Pet Friendly Apartment Listing.

5.  Adopt a Pet from a Humane Society or Shelter.

  •  If your heart is set on a purebred, statistics indicate that approximately 20% of the animals in shelters are purebreds. Most shelters, including Lollypop Farm, maintain a waiting list for purebreds.
An increase in the number of adoptions from shelters, decreases the demand for animals raised in puppy mills.
